The lecture “Polish roots of Israel” will be held in two dates : June 7th 18:00 in Shein Seminar Petach Tikwa & June 8th 11:00 at The Polish Institute Tel Aviv

The Lecture focuses mainly on the legacy of Zionist organizations that functioned in Polish lands. Its aim is to present the contribution of Polish Jews in building independent State of Israel, and their cultural activities. Emphasis will be put on Hebrew press and education in Poland, as well as development of Jewish sports, and outstanding figures of Israeli cultural life originating from Poland.

Professor Łukasz Tomasz Sroka, Director of the Institute of History and Archival Studies of the Pedagogical University in Kraków, researcher specializing in Jewish culture and history of the 19th and 20th centuries and in history of Israel; co-author of the book Polish Roots of Israel. Selection of References (with Mateusz Sroka); co-editor (with Batya Brutin) of the book Polish-Israeli Cooperation Experience, from Zionism to Israel, Collection Studies (2017, Krakow – Kefar Sava). Prof. Sroka created – together with Krzysztof Chaczko and Artur Skorek – the first university handbook focusing on democratic system in Israel: Demokracja izraelska [Israeli democracy], with preface written by Prof. Shevah Weiss.
