By Witold Bereś and Krzysztof BurnetkoTranslated by: Michael Handelzalts
Edelman, one of the commanders of the Warsaw Uprising and a member of the “Bund”, a movement that believed that the Jews of Europe have a future in their countries and believed in the future of the Yiddish. After the war, Edelman decided to stay in Poland, he became a famous and innovating heart sergeant, and at the same time continued to act against the tyrannical regime in his country - this time the Communist. When "solidarity" was established and the democracy was renewed in Poland, Edelman is already a well-known freedom fighter - not just a Jewish hero, but also a Polish hero. |
